There is no doubt that keeping fit and active is great for kids. It helps in so many ways both physically and mentally too. Some of the physical benefits include having stronger & leaner bodies, less likely to become overweight, decreased risk of developing type two diabetes, lower blood pressure and cholesterol. As well as this it also improves confidence and self worth giving them a much better outlook on life.
There are three elements to fitness which are Strength, Endurance and Flexibility. Martial arts training is a GREAT way to improve on all three of these and thus gain all of the benefits mentioned above. The movements and techniques build strength by using all of the major muscle groups while taking joints through the full range of movement and so improving flexibility and suppleness. It is also a fun leisure pursuit with specially constructed games and exercises to help them learn. Children enjoy it so much that they hardly even notice that they are exercising.
